Program Participants:
Maressa C. Criscito, MD is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the Founder and Director of the Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Unit at Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Criscito earned her medical degree from Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She then completed her dermatology residency at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at NYU. She joined the faculty upon completion of her fellowship. Her clinical and academic interests include resident and fellow surgical education, management of high-risk and advanced skin cancers, complex reconstruction, and the integration of artificial intelligence into histopathologic risk stratification. Outside of medicine, Dr. Criscito enjoys reading, traveling, playing mahjong, and spending time with her husband, two sons, and their dog, Mila.
Amrit Greene, MD, FACMS is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Dermatology at Geisinger Medical Center where she serves as the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship Director. She completed her dermatology training and Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Her interests include resident and fellow education and management of high risk populations, including immunosuppressed patients.
Steven Krueger, MD performs Mohs surgery and aesthetic procedures in East Greenwich, Rhode Island and Westport, Massachusetts. After graduating from Boston College, Dr. Krueger earned his medical degree at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed a transitional year internship at Harvard Medical School and then returned to the University of Massachusetts to complete his dermatology residency and Mohs surgery fellowship. Dr. Krueger has been consistently recognized for his commitment to teaching, mentorship, and exceptional patient care.
Nader Aboul-Fettouh, MD is the founder of Blue Ribbon Dermatology in Allen, Texas, where he is double board-certified and practices medical dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, followed by dermatology residency training at the University of Texas Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed his fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Aboul-Fettouh serves as a Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Houston and is an active member of the AAD Practice Management Committee. He is the founder of the Practice Ready Conference, a national educational initiative mentoring dermatologists in building independent practices. His academic work includes numerous publications in cutaneous oncology and dermatologic surgery, and he has presented at national meetings. His clinical interests include high-risk skin cancer management, complex reconstruction, and advancing operational efficiency in dermatology and Mohs surgery practices.
Standardized CLIA Laboratory Manual for Mohs Surgery

Project Summary: As there is currently no widely adopted, Mohs-specific standardized CLIA manual, the goal is to create a shared, authoritative framework that ensures regulatory compliance while allowing flexibility to reflect variability in Mohs laboratory operations.
Program Participants:
Elliot Campbell, MD is a Mohs surgeon practicing at Dermatology Associates of Northern Kentucky in the northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. He completed both his dermatology residency and fellowship training in Mohs surgery at Mayo Clinic. He has a particular interest in Mohs for melanoma and complex reconstruction.
Kalee Shah, MD is in private practice in Long Island, NY. She is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine where she teaches residents dermatologic surgery at a safety-net hospital in New York City. She grew up in Southern California and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Business Administration and Cinema-Television. She subsequently moved to New York City to earn her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Shah completed her internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and her dermatology residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. In her final year, she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she completed her Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medicine. Her interests outside of medicine include college football, travel, cooking (and eating), and spending time with her husband, daughter, and miniature dachshund.
Zain Syed, MD, MBA, FACMS is the Surgical Director of the Mohs and Skin Surgery Center at Skin Care Specialty Physicians, located in Lutherville, Maryland. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in electrical and computer engineering, and recieved his medical degree from The University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency at University of Maryland and went on to complete his fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology with Dr. Heidi Donnelly in Dayton, Ohio. He has served as the President of the Maryland Dermatologic Society and has a passion for Mohs surgery, pathology, reconstruction, nail surgery, and using technology to improve clinical practice. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, son and cat.
David Marcus Wang, MD, MPH is a Mohs surgeon and Chair of Dermatology at Optum Washington in Seattle. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina, where he served as chief resident, followed by a Mohs surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School - Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He also received a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Wang is a recipient of the Theodore Tromovitch Award for his research comparing Mohs surgery with wide local excision for primary high-stage cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking in the Pacific Northwest and traveling with his wife and son.

Sarah Arron, MD, FACMS is originally from New York City. A graduate of Harvard University and Cornell University Medical College, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2003 for her dermatology residency and Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship at UCSF. Before joining Peninsula Dermatology in Burlingame, she served for twelve years on the faculty in Dermatology at UCSF, where she was the Associate Director of the UCSF Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Center, and Chief of Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Dr. Arron is board certified in dermatology and clinical informatics, and is fellowship trained in Mohs micrographic surgery. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery. She has served on the Board of Directors of the ACMS and as President of the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative. Dr. Arron has a special interest in treating skin cancer and the expertise to offer a variety of therapeutic options to her patients. She has published extensively in the field and spoken at numerous national and international conferences. She is also an expert in aesthetic dermatology, including Botox, fillers, lasers, and chemical peels.
Jerry Brewer, MD, MS, FACMS has been a member of the Mayo Clinic staff since 2009, currently serves as the surgery fellowship program director and although being born in Utah is loving the mid-west! Dr. Brewer is a Professor of Dermatology, got a master’s in clinical and translational research early in his career and has served on various committees and leadership roles for the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Board of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology, currently serving as President of the American College of Mohs Surgery, and as a Director of the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Brewer’s interests outside of his job include running, rowing, swimming, cooking, learning languages (currently learning German), dabbling in guitar, coaching soccer and basketball, taekwondo, medical humanitarian missions, learning new things (recently Solo’d for flight school) and being pushed to his limits by his wife and 7 children (who convinced him to go bungie jumping off of a 54-story sky scraper in Auckland, and recently went cliff jumping off of a 40-foot cliff from the southern tip of the Big Island, Ka Lae, Hawaii!!).
John Carucci, MD, PhD, FACMS
Kishwer S. Nehal, MD, FACMS is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine and completed her Dermatology residency and Mohs Surgery fellowship at New York University. Dr. Nehal is the founder and Director of the Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) since 1998. She is also the co-director of the Multidisciplinary Skin Cancer Management Program at MSKCC providing comprehensive care for high risk, complex, and advanced skin cancer patients. Her research interests include noninvasive imaging for skin cancers and melanoma of the lentigo maligna type and she has published extensively in the field of cutaneous oncology and Mohs surgery. She serves on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) panel on Nonmelanoma skin cancer and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) Squamous cell carcinoma expert panel. Dr. Nehal is a dedicated teacher and mentor and is the Program Director of the MSDO fellowship at MSKCC and Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell. She has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Association of Professors of Dermatology, and the Dermatology Foundation. Dr. Nehal is truly passionate about the American College of Mohs Surgery and has served on the Board of Directors, Fellowship Training Committee Chair, and advisor to the AMA CPT Panel.
Christine Poblete-Lopez, MD, FACMS is currently the Program Director of Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at The Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Dermatology. She completed her medical education at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her residency training in dermatology from the Skin & Cancer Foundation in the Philippines, as well as Cleveland Clinic. She completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. After all her training, she stayed on to serve as Associate Program Director and then progressed to serve as Program Director for the Residency Program, a position she held for 12 years. Dr. Lopez also served as Vice Chair for 10 years from 2013 to 2023, where she was primarily responsible for the department’s daily operational activities, growth, and access initiatives, as well as continuous improvement processes, particularly as the department’s Continuous Improvement Officer. In 2022, Dr. Lopez received a Presidential Citation Award for delivering a blended learning program of Dermatologic Surgery to dermatologists in the Philippines. Dr. Poblete-Lopez is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.

Ashley Wysong, MD, MS, FACMS is a Professor and Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. From 2018-2024, she served as Founding Chair, Tenured Professor, and William W. Bruce, MD Distinguished Chair of Dermatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she led the expansion of the department’s clinical, educational, research, and outreach missions and now holds the title of Emeritus Professor. Dr. Wysong earned her MD as valedictorian of Duke University School of Medicine and an MS in Epidemiology from Stanford University, completed her dermatology residency at Stanford serving as chief resident, and pursued fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Scripps Clinic. Her clinical and research expertise centers on squamous cell carcinoma and other high-risk skin cancers, with a focus on translational and outcomes-based research.
