American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) 52nd Annual Meeting

2020 Annual Meeting

ACMS 2020 Annual Meeting Cancelled

Dear Colleagues,
It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that after much deliberation and consultation amongst the leadership of the College, the 2020 Annual Meeting planned for Nashville, Tennessee April 23-26 has been cancelled.

On Friday, March 13, President Donald Trump declared the COVID-19 virus pandemic a national emergency. The World Health Organization has labeled the current COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic, and this declaration, as well as host of travel bans issued by domestic institutions affecting the majority of our speakers, has made it impossible for the meeting to take place. The decision to cancel the meeting was made by unanimous vote of the ACMS Executive Committee and Board of Directors and is in keeping with guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control.

We are keenly aware of the benefits that every Annual Meeting provides - including opportunities for rich interactions between members, excellent plenary speakers, outstanding science, and unique opportunities for networking and mentorship, and we are deeply disappointed at our inability to experience this in Nashville.

We want to extend a special thanks and recognition to Dr. Thuzar Shin and the Scientific Program Committee and ACMS staff, who worked tirelessly to organize the Annual Meeting and who now face the herculean task of cancelling the meeting on very short notice. We ask for your understanding and patience as we work through the process of cancelling this meeting. We will update all registered attendees, exhibitors and sponsors with additional information. Please await instructions over the next two weeks. Our staff will be overwhelmed with responsibility and we ask you to limit questions to essential inquiries.

My deepest thanks to Dr. Thuzar Shin, chair of the Scientific Program Committee, for her work leading the development of another outstanding and comprehensive meeting program. Thanks also to Dr. Jerry Brewer and the CME & Education Committee and Dr. Sumaira Aasi and the Board Certification Task Force for their time and contributions. Special thanks are due to Mary Riordan and the entire ACMS staff for their tireless work planning the many details that make the Annual Meeting a seamless and enjoyable event.

Please note that by cancelling our hotel contracts, anyone booking rooms under our blocks at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, the Inn at Opryland and the Marriott Nashville Airport will have their rooms automatically cancelled. If you booked a room at another hotel, you will need to call that hotel directly to cancel your reservations.

Email is still the best way to contact the College (info@mohscollege.org) should you have any essential questions. We ask that all ACMS members and meeting registrants carefully review all messages sent as updates, as additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

Thank you for your continued commitment to and support of the College as we work through these difficult days. Please be safe and stay well.

Sincerely,

The ACMS Executive Committee
