About the ACMS (Mohs College)

The American College of Mohs Surgery, referred to as ACMS or the Mohs College, was established in 1967. It was named after Frederic Mohs, MD, who developed the procedure and served as the first president of the College. From its inception, the College promotes and continues to set the highest standards of patient care relating to Mohs Micrographic Surgery through its fellowship training process.

There have been many advancements in the procedure over the years and the College has grown to over 900 members, all of whom have received advanced, fellowship training in Mohs surgery, pathology and reconstructive surgery.

In addition to their fellowship training, all ACMS members are required to continue their medical education in Mohs and reconstructive surgery through participation in ACMS Annual Meetings. The meetings consist of masters' panels, interactive sessions, and oral and poster abstract presentations featuring the latest developments in Mohs and dermatologic surgery. Topics covered include the latest advances in the treatment of skin cancer, recent research findings in the area of Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology, and new techniques in reconstruction that promote optimal surgical outcomes.
