Board of Directors' Elections
ASMH is holding an election in the 2009 year. One Secretary, one Treasurer and one Director will be elected to the Board of Directors by the membership for the next term. The Secretary and Treasurer serve two-year terms. Directors serve three-year terms.
Nominations for these positions will be accepted until November 21, 2008, and should be sent, faxed, or e-mailed to the ASMH office. Official ballots will be mailed in February 2009.

The American Society for Mohs Histotechnology's 15th Annual Meeting is held in conjunction with the Mohs College Meeting. The two-day meeting includes hands-on workshops, as well as presentations by Mohs College physicians, industry representatives and fellow histotechnicians.

ANNUAL MEETING CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The American Society for Mohs Histotechnology is pleased to issue a call for abstracts for its 2009 Annual Meeting.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: February 2, 2009
- Deadline: Abstracts must be received no later than February 2, 2009. Questions regarding submission of abstracts should be directed to the ASMH office at: 414-347-1103.
- Contents: Presentation of materials at this meeting are for the purpose of bringing new information to the membership. Abstracts should contain factual information, avoiding generalities or promises such as "results will be discussed." The abstract should include 1) subject of study, 2) methods, 3) results, and 4) conclusions, when applicable, but these subtitles should not be used within the abstract.
- Format: Abstracts must be submitted to the ASMH Office by e-mail to joliva@execinc.com or faxed using the downloadable form on this Web page to 414-276-3349. Accepted abstracts will be included in the On-site Program Book.
- Type the title in CAPITAL letters followed by author(s), affiliation(s), city, state or province, and country. Do not use abbreviations in the title.
- Abstract text must not exceed 200 words.
- Choose a type size, such as 12 point, with no more than 12 characters per inch (2.5 cm). Single space, leaving double spacing between the title and text and between paragraphs. Use only standard abbreviations and symbols.
- Award: Submitter of the top abstract selected for presentation at the Annual Meeting will receive $1,000; and be asked to give a 15 minute presentation at the meeting.
Membership
The American Society for Mohs Histotechnology (ASMH) was founded in 1995 as an ancillary group to the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS). One of the requirements for membership in the ASMH is employment by an active ACMS member or membership in the ACMS.
Member benefits include: discounted registration fee for the Annual Meeting, quarterly newsletter with articles related to the field of histotechnology, histotechnician salary survey results, career listings, and the opportunity for peer interaction and information exchange throughout the year. ASMH Membership Application
ACMS Mohs Histotechnology Quality Assurance Training Initiative
Purpose
The Mohs Histotechnology Quality Assurance (MHQA) Training initiative is designed to provide slide-preparation training to Mohs histotechnicians whose employers recommend and approve such training.
Description of Program
Training sessions will be offered each year at the ASMH Annual Meeting. In addition, Mohs College members may also make arrangements to have personalized training for their Mohs histotechnician(s). An MHQA Training Initiative Enrollment Form must then be completed and sent to the Mohs College along with payment. The standard tuition for training will be $500 for ASMH members and $750 for non-members. The amount of time spent for training will be left to the discretion of the participants; however, the Mohs College recommends an average duration of two days for each training session. Upon completion of training, the student will receive a certificate of participation from the Mohs College, and the MHQA Trainers and student will be required to fill out an assessment form to provide feedback to the College regarding the training experience. The students practice is responsible for all costs incurred (travel, food, lodging, etc.) during training. These costs are in addition to the standard tuition for training.

Mohs histotechnicians who are applying to be a trainer must obtain permission from their Mohs surgeons prior to applying. To obtain an application, either print one from the link below, or contact the Mohs College office at 414-347-1103.
